Actor, artistic director of the "Russkiye Notchi" (Russian Nights) Theatre and School
Member of the Union of Theatre Workers of Russia since 1981.
Aleksandr Markov`s primary research interest is the theory and practice of theatre directing and acting. His experience and method was proved in his Russian Nights acting technique studio at the Russian Nights Theatre Arts School, seminars at universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Sorbonne and workshops with students from Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Italien, Mongolia, Russia, UK, USA.
Aleksandr Markov`s ongoing projects are studios on the russian-mongolien actors course by Yana Tumina at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre Arts and Russian Nights Theatre Arts School.

Graduated from the Department of Dramatic Art of St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre Arts in 1975. Worked in St. Petersburg theaters such as Lencom, Na Fontanke and Academichesky Alexandrinsky Theatre. Played about 50 roles, among which were Shakespeare (Bernard Shaw “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets”), Meluzov (Alexander Ostrovsky “Talents and Admirers”), Chervakov (Leonid Leonov “Untilovsk”), Prompter (Carlo Gozzi “The Little Green Bird”), Borkin (Anton Chekhov “Ivanov”), Tchubukov (Anton Chekhov “Proposal”), Medvedenko (Anton Chekhov “Chaika”), Choir (Laslo Durko “Electra, My Love”), Akim (Lev Tolstoy “The Power of Darkness”), Sirano de Bergerak (Edmond Rastan “Sirano de Bergerak”).
In 1992 Aleksandr Markov founded (together with Valentina Beletskaya) the Russian Nights Theatre and School.
